Father Naresh Jojowar SDB ordained a Priest at Assam

Jan. 8. 2017 , Mukhim Rodrigues Bivan.  Bishop Michael Akasius Toppo of Tezpur ordained Father Naresh Jojowar SDB a priest of God on Sunday, 8th January at Tangla Parish, Assam. The Holy Mass was concelebrated by Bishop Robert Kerketta SDB, Bishop Emeritus of Tezpur and joined by over 40 priests and a good number of religious sisters and lay people.

During the homily, Bishop Akasius mentioned that the Salesian Parish of Tangla has given to the Church many priests. He hoped that many more young people will response to the call of Jesus to serve him as priests and offer the lives to the service of the people of God. "I encourage that many will follow the example of the new priest to response generously to the call of Jesus to be priests and religious," the bishop said. Father Januarius Sangma SDB, Vice Provincial presented the candidate to the Bishop while former Vice Provincial and Rector of the missionary aspirantate Father Thomas Lakra SDB narrated the life story of Father Naresh Jojowar before a packed believers who attended the ordination celebration. In his thanksgiving address, the newly ordained priest expressed gratitude to God for the vocation given him and to the Bishop for ordaining him. He also expressed gratitude to the Salesian congregation and to the province and confreres. He mentioned in particular the Provincial, Father VM Thomas and the provincial council, the superiors who guided his vocation and to all who were present on the memorable day of his ordination. The newly ordained Salesian Father Naresh Jojowar celebrated his thanksgiving Holy Mass at his native village of Khokha Basti on 9th January 2016. A large number of Salesian priests and religious joined him in the thanksgiving Holy Mass.
