He watched St Xavier`s Secondary School defeating Don Bosco Higher Secondary School in the girls` category and Don Bosco Higher Secondary School lifting the trophy by humbling Tura Government Boys` Higher Secondary School.|
Speaking on the occasion Conrad said that he felt proud to come back to the institution where his late father P.A. Sangma was once a student. Congratulating the winners, he also had a word of consolation to the losers. Citing examples from his electoral battles, he said that he won twice and lost twice. It was when he lost that made him learn more. Inviting the students to develop their sporting talents, he said he would try to promote sports and games in the state. After the felicitation, Sangma handed the trophies, medals and certificates to the winners and runner ups.
In the afternoon, Rahul Sen, the 2nd rank holders in this year`s SSLC examination along with other successful candidates including those of the HSSLC were befittingly felicitated. Rt. Rev. Bishop Andrew R. Marak, Bishop of Tura was the Chief Guest and Shri TR Laloo, Controller of Examinations, MBOSE was the guest of honour. Congratulating the achievers, particularly the topper, the bishop said they have done the institution, their parents an Garo Hills proud. He prayed that they may be successful in examinations and in life.
Reflecting on his success, Rahul said, ``I use to study regularly and sincerely and equally devote my time for co-curricular activities. I love playing table tennis and cricket.`` ``I am passionate about Science. I will study in the same institution and my dream in life is to be into academics,`` he said.
Prior to the matches and during the felicitation short, impressive and colourful cultural shows were organised.
