Rector Major on a Maiden Visit to the Northeast, India  by Father Bivan R. Muhim
    Guwahati, Nov. 8. 2017 After a five-day visit to the Salesian Province of Bangalore, the Rector Major Father Angel Fernandez Artime set foot for the first time in the land of the Seven Sisters, visiting the Gateway to the Northeast and the land of the fame of one horn rhino, Assam. Father Angel is in the Province of Guwahati from 8-11, November 2017.
    The Rector Major will be received by the Salesians and the young people at Don Bosco Institute (DBI) upon arrival at Guwahati. A number of cultural programmes of the Northeast are planned for the evening. The following day, the Rector Major will take part in the Platinum Jubilee of the foundation of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians (MSMHC). He will also interact with the members of the Salesian Family, the Salesian confreres, the candidates, the youth and the school children.

    The highlight of the visit will be the interaction with the Youth of the Northeast and the launching of the Salesian Youth Movement on 11th November at Damra Parish. About 10,000 young people from all over the region will take part in the Youth Fest and celebrate the 95 years of Salesian presence in Northeast.

    The Rector Major will celebrate the Holy Mass with the youth of the Northeast who will be present at Damra for the Youth Fest. Excitements have filled the air as the youth of Northeast awaits the maiden visit of the successor of Don Bosco. A youth studying in a Degree college who is part of the Youth Fest expressed his joy, ``I am so happy to be part of the visit, for me the meeting with the Rector Major will be like meeting Don Bosco himself,`` he said.
